Searches for an ORM agency in Mumbai come from people whose names carry their business: actors and producers, reviewed in public with every release; fund managers, brokers and listed-company promoters, for whom one false article about a regulatory probe can cost a mandate; and founders, whose first page of results every investor and recruit reads.
Who looks for an ORM agency in Mumbai, and what to decide first
Decide first what you need done, because two methods are sold under one name. Suppression publishes and promotes new material so that a harmful result falls below page one; the page stays live at its address and can return when the work stops. Removal takes the content off the host, or out of Google's index, through the platform's complaint process, a legal notice or a court order. An agency's answer to “which of these do you do?” tells you more than its client logos.
A disclosure: RepuLex wrote this guide and is one of the firms in it. That is why the comparison is limited to what each firm publishes about itself, why it is not a ranking, and why RepuLex's own limits are set out at the end.
How this comparison was built
On 29 September 2026 we searched Google India for “best ORM agency in Mumbai” and took the agencies on page one, leaving out the directory and list pages that shared it. Each firm's row was read the same day from its own website; nothing came from third-party lists or review sites.
Firms whose own pages could not be read that day were left out. None of the national firms in RepuLex's India-wide comparison states a Mumbai headquarters, so none is added. RepuLex's row is the reference: it is in the table because RepuLex wrote the guide, not because of where it ranked.
Where a firm publishes nothing on a point, the cell says “Not published”; that describes the website, not the firm's prices or work. There are no scores or ratings, and the order is not a ranking: RepuLex first, the rest alphabetically. Corrections are invited at hello@repulex.com and are checked against the firm's own current page.
Mumbai's ORM agencies at a glance
The table sets the four firms side by side on what a buyer can check before calling anyone: where each is based, the method it describes, what it publishes about price and legal work, and where each cell was read. Every cell condenses the firm's own words; none is a verdict.

What actually differs between them
Three differences stand out. The first is method. All three Mumbai firms describe content creation or promotion as part of their work; two list review management, two list monitoring and two name SEO or search-engine work. None advertises legal removal as its method, though one lists removal among its services without naming a legal route. On their own descriptions, two are classed as suppression-led and one as hybrid. RepuLex's row describes legal removal at source.
The second is price. One of the four firms publishes a price, and it is RepuLex; the other three quote after a conversation. That is common, but it means a buyer cannot compare like with like before sharing a sensitive matter with each agency.
The third is legal work. None of the three Mumbai firms states a legal partner or an in-house legal team on its pages. That matters when the problem needs one: a notice under an advocate's signature, a civil suit and a criminal complaint are acts of advocates, not of any agency. RepuLex employs no advocates, so its row names a partner law firm, Unified Chambers And Associates.
The case against suppression for unlawful content is about the model, not any firm. The false page stays at its address, anyone who searches further or asks an AI assistant can still find it, and the work must continue for the result to hold. It can suit a brand that needs more good material in its results; it is the wrong tool for a page that should not exist. No row measures how well a firm does its own work.
The legal routes available in Mumbai
Most removals begin with the platform. Under the IT Rules 2021, as amended from 20 February 2026, a complaint to a platform's grievance officer must be acknowledged within 24 hours and resolved within seven days (Rule 3(2)(a)(i)); defamation sits in that seven-day lane. Resolved means decided, and a refusal can be appealed to the Grievance Appellate Committee at gac.gov.in or taken to court. A fake account impersonating a company must be acted on within 36 hours of a complaint. A court order or a reasoned government intimation must be acted on within three hours (Rule 3(1)(d)).
For a person the clock is shorter. Content showing a person's private area, nudity or a sexual act, or impersonating a person in electronic form, including morphed images and deepfakes, must be removed within two hours of a complaint by that person or someone acting for them (Rule 3(2)(b)). For an actor put into a fabricated clip, or a fund manager impersonated in a fake investment video, that is usually the first route.
A legal notice under an advocate's signature sets out what is false, which law it breaks and what is asked. It often settles matters with authors and publishers, and it usually comes before a suit, but it is not an order. Since Shreya Singhal v. Union of India (2015), a platform's “actual knowledge” under Section 79 of the IT Act means a court order or a government notification, so a private notice does not by itself remove its safe harbour.
If a platform or publisher will not act, the next step is a civil suit for an injunction and damages. In Greater Mumbai, a suit valued up to ₹10 crore goes to the Bombay City Civil Court, at Fort or its Dindoshi branch for Bandra to Dahisar; above ₹10 crore, to the Original Side of the Bombay High Court (s.3, Bombay City Civil Court Act, 1948, as amended in 2023). A damages claim pays ad valorem court fee on the amount claimed under the Maharashtra Court-fees Act, 1959. The Original Side is for Greater Mumbai: a suit in Pune begins in the competent civil court of Pune district.
Criminal defamation under BNS s.356 (formerly IPC 499/500) carries simple imprisonment of up to two years, a fine, both, or community service. A court takes cognizance only on a complaint by the person aggrieved (BNSS s.222(1)), so the complainant is the client, not the police or an agency. In Mumbai it goes to a Judicial Magistrate First Class court under the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Mumbai, allotted by police station.
A court can also reach further than a complaint. On 5 August 2026 the Bombay High Court, in a Union Minister's suit over AI-generated videos, passed an ad interim order directing takedown of the listed content and of further content the plaintiff flags, and disclosure of basic subscriber information for the posting accounts. The order is interim and the suit continues; no grievance complaint reaches that far.
None of these routes reaches lawful content. An honest review, a critic's verdict on a film or an accurate report of a regulator's order stays up. The Madras High Court said as much in V.P. Sarathi v. S. Kiruthigha, upholding the dismissal of a lawyer's complaint over a client's Google review: a view on a service received does not defame the provider.
Questions to ask any Mumbai ORM agency before paying
Put these to every agency, RepuLex included, and ask for the answers in writing.
Removal or suppression? Ask which URLs will come off the host or out of Google's index and which will only be outranked, itemised URL by URL.
Per URL or per month? A per-URL fee ends when the work is done; a monthly fee runs as long as the result must be held. Know which you are buying before you share the facts.
Which legal ground applies to each URL? False statements of fact, privacy breaches, impersonation, intimate images and copyright each have their own route and their own clock.
Who signs the notices and files in court? Ask for the law firm's name. The regulated acts belong to advocates, and you are entitled to know whose.
What happens to your money if the content stays up? Get the refund terms in writing, and check that the agency cannot decide for itself that the work succeeded.
Will the agency write, solicit or buy reviews? Paid and incentivised reviews breach the platforms' own policies; the answer should be no.
Is a non-disclosure agreement signed before you explain the matter, and will you get a dated record of every URL, the complaint filed and the outcome? You will need it if the content returns.
Where RepuLex fits, and its limits
RepuLex is an online reputation management agency with one office, in New Delhi, and it acts for clients in Mumbai from there: matters run on documents, calls and the platforms' complaint systems, and court work goes to the competent court through its partner law firm. A non-disclosure agreement is signed before a matter is discussed.
Legal removal is its main method, within a wider reputation, crisis and monitoring practice. RepuLex is not a law firm: notices under an advocate's signature, court filings and appearances are handled by its partner law firm, Unified Chambers And Associates. It does not sell SEO suppression, review generation or fake reviews.
RepuLex has removed 2,400+ links at a 97% success rate, with an average resolution time of 7 days. Those are historical figures, not a promise about your matter, and no outcome is guaranteed. RepuLex has acted for prominent Bollywood and Tollywood personalities, under NDA, and no client is named.
Standard-complexity removals are ₹99,999 per URL, ₹2,49,999 for three and ₹7,49,999 for ten; news-media, court-reported and legal-database matters are quoted separately from ₹1,00,000 per URL. Fees are paid 100% in advance, and 100% is refunded for any URL not removed within the agreed timeline, including where the platform refuses; the full terms are on the pricing page.
RepuLex is the wrong choice in three cases. It declines honest reviews and accurate reports rather than take the fee. For brand content, social media management or influencer work, a Mumbai digital agency is the better fit. And for an agency in the room in Mumbai every week, hire one with a Mumbai office.
Frequently asked questions
Which is the best ORM agency in Mumbai?
It depends on what you need done. If specific false, private or impersonating content has to come down, look for an agency that advertises legal removal, publishes its price and names the law firm that does its legal work. Of the four firms in RepuLex's comparison (the agencies Google India showed for that search on 29 September 2026, plus RepuLex as the reference), RepuLex is the only one that advertises legal removal as its method and the only one that publishes a price. RepuLex wrote the guide, is based in New Delhi and acts for Mumbai clients through its partner law firm, Unified Chambers And Associates. If you need brand content, social media or monitoring instead, a Mumbai digital agency may suit you better.
What does an online reputation management company in Mumbai charge?
Few publish a price. Of the four firms in RepuLex's Mumbai comparison, only RepuLex does: ₹99,999 per URL, ₹2,49,999 for three and ₹7,49,999 for ten at standard complexity, with news-media and court-reported URLs quoted from ₹1,00,000. The other three quote after a consultation. Whichever agency you approach, ask whether the fee is per URL or per month, and get the refund terms in writing before you pay.
Is there a top ORM agency in Mumbai that removes content instead of burying it?
Removal is a method, not a size or a ranking. An agency removes content when it uses the platform's complaint process, a legal notice or a court order to take it off the host or out of Google's index; suppression publishes new material so that the old result falls below page one while it stays live. Ask any agency which of the two your quote buys. RepuLex, a New Delhi agency that acts for Mumbai clients, works by removal and does not sell suppression; none of the three Mumbai firms in its comparison advertises legal removal as its method.
How quickly must a platform remove a deepfake or fake profile in India?
Under the IT Rules 2021 as amended from 20 February 2026, content that impersonates a person, including morphed images and deepfakes, or that shows intimate images, must be removed within two hours of a complaint by that person or someone acting for them. A fake account impersonating a company falls in the 36-hour lane. A defamation complaint must be acknowledged within 24 hours and resolved within seven days, and a court order must be acted on within three hours.
Where is a defamation case filed in Mumbai?
In Greater Mumbai, a civil suit valued up to ₹10 crore goes to the Bombay City Civil Court, and a suit above ₹10 crore to the Original Side of the Bombay High Court. A criminal complaint of defamation under BNS s.356 goes to a Judicial Magistrate First Class court under the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Mumbai, allotted by police station, and a court takes cognizance only on a complaint by the person aggrieved (BNSS s.222(1)). Advocates file both; for RepuLex's clients that work is done by its partner law firm, Unified Chambers And Associates.
Does RepuLex have an office in Mumbai?
No. RepuLex has one office, in New Delhi, and acts for clients in Mumbai from there; matters run on documents, calls and the platforms' own complaint systems. Notices under an advocate's signature, court filings and appearances are handled by its partner law firm, Unified Chambers And Associates. A non-disclosure agreement is signed before a matter is discussed.
