News & De-indexing

Negative News Management & De-indexing

A damaging article is not permanent. We make it removable.

A negative news article — indexed, syndicated, and surfaced at the top of your name for years — is one of the most corrosive reputation problems there is. Most agencies will tell you it can only be "pushed down". That is often untrue.

Negative News Management is the legal and strategic removal or de-indexing of false, damaging, or outdated news coverage — the article itself, and its footprint across Google.

What it is

The service, plainly.

A focused programme to eliminate the search visibility of harmful news: removal at the publisher where the content is defamatory or false, and Google de-indexing where removal at source is not available.

Where an article is factually accurate but concerns a resolved or outdated matter, we pursue the Right to Be Forgotten pathway.

What's included

Everything the engagement covers.

Article & syndication audit

We map the original article and every republication, portal, and aggregator carrying it.

Legal removal at source

Formal notices to publishers under defamation law and the IT Act, through our partner law firm, for false or defamatory coverage.

Google de-indexing

Legal and Right-to-be-Forgotten de-index requests to remove the article from search even where the publisher will not.

Syndication sweep

The same action applied across every re-publisher so the story does not survive on a mirror.

Confirmation & monitoring

Documented confirmation of removal, and monitoring to catch any re-appearance.

Our approach

How it runs.

01
Assess actionability

We evaluate the article for defamation, factual falsity, privacy breach, or RTbF eligibility — and tell you honestly what is achievable.

02
Notice the source

Formal legal notices are issued to the publisher and hosting entity with a statutory compliance deadline.

03
De-index in parallel

Google de-index and RTbF requests run alongside, so search visibility drops even if a portal resists.

04
Sweep & confirm

Every syndication is addressed, removal is confirmed in writing, and the URLs are monitored.

Who it's for
  • Individuals and companies with a damaging article dominating their name search.
  • People acquitted, cleared, or resolved of a matter still described online as ongoing.
  • Anyone told by another agency that a news article "can only be suppressed".
Why RepuLex
  • News portals are not immune from defamation law — a false article is legally removable, and we issue the notices that make it happen.
  • De-indexing and Right to Be Forgotten are active areas of Indian law where RepuLex has real case experience.
  • We address the whole syndication footprint, not just the one URL you noticed.
Documented outcomes

Real matters, resolved.

De-indexed

Defamatory and false news articles removed from national portals and de-indexed from Google search.

Defamation

A defamatory article targeting a prominent individual removed at source and de-indexed from Google.

Anonymised to protect client confidentiality under NDA. Representative past matters — not a guarantee of any specific outcome.

Questions, answered.

Can a real, accurate news article be removed?+

Sometimes — through the Right to Be Forgotten, where the matter is legally resolved, acquitted, or no longer of public interest. A wholly accurate, current, public-interest article is the hardest case, and we will tell you so honestly rather than take a matter we cannot move.

What about large, well-known publications?+

Established publications are not exempt from defamation law. The legal process is the same regardless of size, and larger portals often comply quickly to avoid their own legal and reputational exposure.

What is de-indexing versus removal?+

Removal deletes the article at the publisher. De-indexing removes it from Google search results even if the page still technically exists. We pursue both — removal first, de-indexing in parallel — so the article disappears from where it actually harms you.
